Experiential Learning: Real-World Problem Solving in Education

Introduction to Experiential Learning
Experiential Learning is a hands-on approach where students learn by doing. This model focuses on real-world engagement, allowing learners to apply knowledge in practical settings, reflect on their experiences, and adapt their learning in future situations.

Best Suited For:
Fields like environmental science, engineering, or business, where direct, hands-on experience is essential. For example, students might conduct fieldwork for environmental studies or run a business simulation in an entrepreneurship course.

Technology to Enhance Experiential Learning:

  • GoPro or AR/VR tools for immersive, real-time experience capture.
  • Notion or Evernote for field documentation and project organization.

On-the-Go/Travel-Friendly Solutions:

  • Google Keep for quick notes while in the field or traveling.
  • Survey123 for geographic data collection during mobile fieldwork.

AI-Proofing/Flaw:
Experiential learning is largely AI-resistant because it requires real-world problem-solving and hands-on interaction. However, using AI tools for reflection and post-experience analysis can enhance learning but shouldn’t replace the actual experience. Assessment should focus on the student’s ability to reflect on and apply knowledge from their direct engagement.
