Class 10 Review

Welcome Class 10!

The following is the review guide covering the projects and final for the class during this semester:

Projects:

Students will send 1 E-MAIL to me at: [email protected]. Containing 2 DOCUMENTS as follows:

Include in the subjects line: your name in English/ pin yin and the Class #

Format:

  • Microsoft Word
  • Times New Roman
  • 12 point
  • Double Space
  • Name at the top in both English/ Pin Yin (Your name your family name)/ Chinese

Project 1 *

  • Watch “The Bucket List
  • Write your own bucket list (5 or more MEANINGFUL buckets).

Project 2 *

  • Watch: “A Vision of  Students Today“. https://ewanderer.com/2014/10/vision-students-today/
  • Write a Time Budget for a  weekday (smallest acceptable time is 24 hours). You should add all you time between Monday – Friday and divide by 5. (M+Tu+W+Th+F)/5=X

Project 3

  • Look on-line at www.yahoo.com for “how to write a resume”. (Do NOT use the first 5 links)

  • Write a resume, it should include: your identifying information (name, e-mail, phone #), an abbreviated (general short introduction – what makes you special), your education, and any work experience you may have.

*projects 1 and 2 should be in the SAME word document

Final Exam:

2 Parts:

  • Introduction (20 points 4 points per parts 1-5).
  • Interview – answer 4 questions of 9 (20 points per question) (10 points for basic comprehension per question) (5 points for fluency  per question) (1-5 points for adavanced comprehension).

Introduction (formal and first-time) :

5 parts of an introduction:

  1. greeting
  2. introduction
  3. icebreaker
  4. closing
  5. hand shake*

*happens between the 2nd and 4th.

Greeting:

  • Hello!
  • Hi!
  • Good Morning.
  • Good Afternoon.
  • Good Evening.

Introduction:

  • My name is ____________
  • What’s your name?

Ice Breaker:

  • What a fine day!
  • How do you do?
  • How are you (doing/ today)?
  • How is everything going?
  • What are you doing these days?
  • How’s your weekend/ Did you have a good weekend?
  • How is everything going?
  • How have you been?
  • How was your week(end)?

Closing:

  • Good bye.
  • See you late/ next time.
  • Nice / glad to (have see(n)/ me(e)t you.
  • Thank you!
  • Bye!
  • (I’m) pleased to (have) me(e)t you.
  • I’m looking forward to seeing you next time/ in the future.

Hand Shake:

Girls

  • extend arm half way
  • open hand; palm down
  • fingers pointed down; thumb up.

Boys

  • extend arm half way
  • open hand; fingers extended thumb up
  • Hands should meet and grasp, paying close attention to the area between the thumb and pointer finger
  • a firm grip
  • Do NOT lock the elbow or move the shoulder, 3 shakes in an up down motion.

  1. Group 1: What’s your expectation for/ about this job?
  2. Group 2: What kind of coworker do you get along best with?
  3. Group 3: How do you handle working overtime and on the weekends?
  4. Group 4: How often do you complain?
  5. Group 5: How would you handle a work situation you don’t like?
  6. Group 6: What do you do in your spare time?
  7. Group 7: If you had to choose a motto what would it be?
  8. Group 8: If your working hours are irregular how would you handle it?
